Ask a Physicist: How large is the universe?

Hey everyone. My latest column is up: “How can we measure the size of the universe?” I talk all about the various ways of measuring distance in the universe and why, even though the big bang was about 14 billion years ago, the most distant galaxies are much, much further than 14 billion light years away.

If you’re visiting here from io9, be sure to check out the blog (especially the physics tag), leave a question or a comment, and especially check out our press room to find out about our book and other columns and interviews we’ve done.
